The village itself is a modern affair but the waterfront area, with its small park, eucalyptus lined beach and pretty lake is a lovely spot.

Karavomilos is a pleasant, quiet retreat. Pull up a chair at one of the cafes in the main sqaure, head for the beach or the lake.

Karavomilos lake is quite famous. Water that is sucked under the island at the sea mill at Katavothres (by Argostoli) passes the nearby underground lake at Melisani and surfaces here. Another sea mill is also powered here as the water gushes back out to sea.

The lake is home to ducks and geese and makes for a nice place to sit and contemplate.
