The accommodation at Trapezaki is situated between half and one kilometre behind the beach, dotted sparsely around the steep hillside.

The resort does have a small centre with a few tavernas and shops, but it could be some distance from your apartment.

Trapezaki is pleasantly uncrowded and uncommercial resort, very spread out amidst olive groves and countryside. It is ideal for those who like walking and exploring and who are looking for seclusion.

Accommodation is set sparsely on the hillside with attractive fields and olive groves to explore on either side.

Friends of Kefalonia's main criticism of Trapezaki is the same as of many resorts around the Ionian - the uninspiring apartment blocks. Every block apparently has to have a sea view, which means everyone else has to see the apartments in their view. There is so little variation in modern apartment blocks that the whole of the Ionian begins to look the same.

The biggest danger of Trapezaki is choosing an apartment at the top of the hill if you are not very fit. In the heat of the summer, you could make yourself feel quite ill walking back from the beach. Trapezaki and neighbouring Lourdas have the steepest ascents of any resort on Kefalonia (Cephalonia).

Trapezaki is surrounded by Kefalonian countryside though and makes for a good introduction to the wildlife and cultivation of the island.
