| Lassi was the first resort to be developed on Kefalonia (Cephalonia) and has attracted visitors for several decades. It is the largest resort on Kefalonia and as such is the most commercial resort on the island.
Having said that, its proximity to the capital of Kefalonia, Argostoli, makes it popular with locals in the summer, who come here to use the resorts twin beaches and its tavernas.
Lassi stretches out along the main coastal road for some kilometre. Tavernas, bars, tourist gift shops and rent-a-car offices are crammed in down the length of the main drag, all vying for the tourist Euro.
Local Kefalonians do come out to eat in Lassi so it is possible to get good Greek food here. Watch out, however, Friends of Kefalonia were told somewhat disturbing stories of a two tier serving system in some tavernas, so pick your eatery carefully. Why not treat yourself to the Kefalonia Digital Information Pack which includes 7 Introductory Walks including the Lassi Hill Trail, a guide to Kefalonia, eight wildlife booklets and the online version of the 25 min FoI Movie Kefalonia Explorer - just 3.95! | Lassi is the largest strip development on Kefalonia (Cephalonia) and although it is hardly inspiring, neither it is unattractive if compared to the main resorts of other islands. |
| |
| Lassi is a well maintained resort. Both the town and the beaches are kept tidy, clean and litter free.

| Lassi has grown up around the main coastal road leading from Argostoli to the airport, which means it can get very busy in the summer. Crossing the road can feel a little like you are taking your life in your hands.
To be fair, Lassi has taken some measures to improve road safety, recently installing pavements down each side of the main road. This may sound like the basics of safety in a family resort, but you would be surprised how many resorts in the Ionian don't live up to the basic requirements.
The main drag is fairly well lit, but take a torch to get yourself back to your apartment at night, you might well need one. Much of the accommodation is hidden away between the pine trees that characterise this area. For the most the accommodation in Lassi is small apartment blocks.
The two beaches used by Lassi tourists are Makris Yialos, which means long beach, and Plati Yialos, which means wide beach. Lassi offers the standard fare of resorts across Europe with an assortment of tavernas, restaurants and bars down the busy main drag.

| Lassi is fairly well placed to make the most of the local area. With its proximity to the main town of Kefalonia (Cephalonia), Lassi is well placed to take advantage of all the tavernas, bars, museums, shops and other amenities of Argostoli. Buses run frequently and a taxi home is a few Euros if you want to spend the evening. For things to do in Argostoli see Kefalonia Explorer and Kefalonia Top Trips.
Buses also run out into the Livathos region, the lush market garden of Kefalonia, covered with olive and citrus groves and a myriad of pretty villages. Buses go from Lassi to some of these villages, such at Kourkoumelata, which make for a good trip out.
Alternatively, this region is fairly flat and ideal for cycling, with its network of back roads cutting through the cool of the groves. Visit some of the region's interesting villages or some of the small beaches south of Lassi, such as Avithos. Bikes can be hired in Lassi.
From Lassi, you can also cycle up to the peninsula of Argostoli. The area around the Piccolo Yiro, with the old British sea mill and Katavrothres is also interesting. Friends of Kefalonia have a trail here.
The Lassi Hill trail takes the user out of Lassi towards the village of Spillia and viewpoints over the dramatic landscape past the Koutavos lagoon. The trail will help you to get a feel for the area. Lassi itself has a whole host of tavernas, cafes and bars but it is a fairly chilled resort with no noisy nightclubs. | Least said, soonest mended. This is a purpose-built resort that has little that is authentically Greek about it. It is comprised of purpose-built apartment blocks, hotels and shops which have been built to cater for the needs of tourists. |
