| This is a tiny cove on the north west coast of Kefalonia (Cephalonia), hardly a beach at all. The beach is only a few meters wide but cuts inland quite a way where it looks like a river flows in the winter. Alaties is very remote, although there are a few apartments down here. | The beach itself is a fairly jumbled affair, not overly attractive. The rocks and the view down the rugged coastline to the south are very impressive with waves pounding onto the western shore of Kefalonia (Cephalonia). |

| Some litter does wash ashore at Alatiesand, being such a tiny and remote beach, it is not regularly cleaned away. There are also patches of tar on the beach. Remember if you get tar on your clothes, olive oil is a great way to remove it. |

| No matter where you are staying on Kefalonia, you need a car, a map and some perseverance to get to this beach. A long stretch of the road is unmade so Friends of the Ionian would suggest that the journey is made very carefully, unless in a 4x4. | There is little shade down this rocky coastline but, again, you can cool off in the taverna. |

| There are no facilities at Alaties but a small taverna that opens in the summer. This is sufficient to cool down with a drink or meal.
