Things to see with your Kefalonia Car Hire
In the far north of the island are the Venetian harbours of Fiscardo and Assos. Both dramatic locations, they were spared the devastation of the 1953 earthquake and still retain much of their attractive old architecture. Both are a rare treat to wander around though it’ll be a long journey up here in you hire car.Driving out to the west of Kefalonia in your car hire, you’ll come across a region of outstanding beauty – the Paliki peninsular (now thought to be a possible location for Homer’s Ithaca). This is a region seldom visited by tourists and offers a very different perspective on Kefalonia.
In the far southeast of the Kefalonia you’ll find resorts like Katelios, Skala and Poros each of which has its own charm. Skala has been a destination for centuries as the remains of a Roman villa testify. Nearby to laid-back Poros on the east coast of Kefalonia there are even older ruins for you to explore in your hire car. The tomb at Tzanata is over 2,500 years old.
Journeying north to the region of Pilaros in your hire car you’ll come across the towns of Sami and Agia Efimia. Both popular resorts, the beach at Anti-Samos is one of Kefalonia’s most spectacular. On the west coast of Kefalonia, across from Agia Efimia, you’ll be able to drive down to the famous Mytros beach. Voted one of the greatest beaches in the world, the views down to the beach are breath taking.
Finally there is the heart of Kefalonia itself, the great mountain of Enos. It’s cool up here even in summer and if you fancy a drive up here in your hire car you’ll be able to walk into the Mount Enos National Park. Its microclimate is home to a strange primordial forest of rare and ragged fir trees.

Introduction to Kefalonia
Kefalonia or Cephalonia is the largest of all the Ionian Islands. This island is perhaps the most varied of all the Ionian Islands. Wherever you go in your Kefalonia car hire, be that the haunted cypress groves of the Erissos peninsula in the north of Kefalonia, or the olive groves and market gardens of Livathos, Kefalonia is as diverse as it is wild.
